On another occasion I explained to you the common elements and the types of mitre saws that we have for different applications. Well, once you are clear about which mitre saw to choose, it is important that you learn to use it well to avoid any type of accident. Therefore, in this post, I am going to show you the steps you must follow to correctly handle a mitre saw with a top table. In addition to including a visual demonstration with two of our models: SC 2600 W and SC 210 BW.
Read carefully because you will see that it is a very simple tool to use if you follow the instructions, I give you. Let’s get started!
What are the features of the SC 2600 W and SC 210 BW top table mitre saws?
Before getting to know in detail what is the correct way to use a mitre saw with a top table, I am going to introduce you to the two models that we will use as an example: SC 2600 W and SC 210 BW.
As you already know, both mitre saws have elements in common, such as the upper cutting table, but they differ in other peculiarities such as power, weight, disc diameter and cutting capacity. And that’s why I will indicate them to you.
Mitre saw with upper cutting table Stayer SC 2600 W
It has a power of 1900W, a solid aluminum structure and a weight of 17 kg. Allows you to use 260 mm diameter discs and cut at various angles:
- Straight 90˚: 55×125 mm
- 45˚/90˚ mitre: 55×80 mm
- 90˚/45˚ bevel: 45×125 mm
- 45˚/45˚ Mix: 45×80 mm
- Straight on upper table: 0-42 mm
The standard endowment that includes is:
- Bag collects dust
- Push bar
- Clamp to hold the material
- Safety guard for the blade
- Guide for the upper table
Mitre saw with upper cutting table SC 210 BW Stayer
It has a power of 1200W, a solid aluminum structure and a weight of 12 kg. Allows you to attach 210 mm diameter discs and cut at various angles:
- Straight 90˚: 120×55 mm
- 45˚/90˚ mitre: 65×55 mm
- 90˚/45˚ bevel: 120×35 mm
- 45˚/45˚ Composite: 40×23 mm
- Straight on upper table: 0-33 mm
The standard endowment that includes is:
- Dust collection bag
- Upper table support
- Guide for the upper table
- Push bar
- Clamp to hold the material
- Service key for disc change
- Safety guard for the disc
Both machines are prepared to work stationary on flat and stable surfaces, pieces of hard and soft wood, chipboard or fiber boards and PVC pipes. Always respecting the cutting angles that they allow. But what is the best way to handle a mitre saw with an upper cutting table? Let’s see it.
What steps to follow to correctly use an upper table Mitre Saw?
The time has come for you to learn how to use them well to avoid any mishap, but first, remember that the worktable where you support the machine must be safe, stable and flat. Also, keep in mind that the mitre saw has an extended back support to make it more secure, as well as screws and nuts for you to anchor it to the workbench if you want.
In general, when the machine is not yet in operation:
- Adjust the horizontal and vertical mitre angle
- Attach the disc securely
- Fix the workpiece so that it does not move during cutting
And once you have done the above steps:
- Start and stop the machine when necessary
- Use the lower cutting table correctly
- Use the upper cutting table correctly
- Remove the remaining dust from the previous cutting operation
- Keep the mitre saw clean and in good condition
In the manuals, provided in the documentation section, you will have an detailed explanation of each step:
- Access the manual for the SC 2600 W mitre saw
- Access the manual for the SC 210 BW mitre saw
But of all these steps, knowing how to use the upper or lower cutting table can be the most complicated, for that I will show you visually how to do it.
With the SC 2600 W mitre saw
If you are going to use the lower cutting table
However, if you are going to use the upper cutting table
To adjust the cutting depth of the upper table
With the SC 210 BW mitre saw
If you are going to use the lower cutting table
Whereas if you are going to use the upper cutting table
